Title:
Charge Carrier Dynamics of Semiconductor Nanoheterostructure Photoelectrodes for Solar Fuel Generation

Abstract:
Semiconductor nanostructures have been extensively utilized as photoelectrodes in photoelectrochemical (PEC) solar fuel production because of its favorable band edge position, high chemical stability, and relatively low cost. In this system, interface charge carrier transfer property plays an important role to dominate the photoelectric conversion performance as well as the efficiency of solar fuel production. Ultrafast laser spectroscopy is a powerful technology to gain the insights into the charge carrier dynamics and find the key factors to enhance the efficiency of semiconductor nanostructures in solar fuel production. These results could potentially be used for other photoconversion applications, such as metal oxides based photovoltaics, as well as photocatalytic systems.

Time:3/18 3:10pm
