Title:
The studies of nanocarbons for 19 years
Abstract:
Since 2003 we are dedicated to the development of nanocarbons including carbon nanotubes, graphene, and graphene nanoribbons. In the first part of this presentation, we will review our early papers regarding to carbon nanotubes and graphene. In the second part of this talk, we will demonstrate the microwave-assisted synthesis of graphene oxide nanoribbons (GONRs) and their applications. Herein the microwave heating not only greatly saves the reaction time but also improves the yield. In the beginning, a core-shell MWCNT/GONR heterostructure was used to electrochemically detect ascorbic acid, dopamine, and uric acid. Then the specific capacitance is 252.4 Fg-1 for the supercapacitor electrode with the MWCNT@GONR. On the other hand, we also modified GONRs with phospholipid-polyethylene glycol (PL-PEG) to prepare PEGylated GONRs for biodistribution and drug delivery studies in mice. The reduced GONR was further used as the catalytic film of the counter electrode of a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) with an efficiency of 6.91 %. Moreover, their composite materials containing cobalt oxides have been utilized as electrocatalysts. In summary, selected nanocarbon studies of my research in 19 years will be discussed and presented.
